Established in 1999, Time For Life
is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to developing and
implementing programs and services to meet the needs of children with
cancer and their families in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
Serving communities in the Connecticut and Massachusetts areas, Time
For Life works to serve children and families from the point of diagnosis,
through treatment, and onto survival. This continuity of services
increases the effectiveness of our programs and allows us to address
the long-term issues and complications faced by all those affected
by a child’s cancer.
The children we help are treated for a range of different cancer diagnoses
at the major pediatric oncology hospitals in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
Ranging in age from infancy to 18 years of age, some of the children
we help are in treatment, some are in remission and others are fortunate
enough to be considered cured.
Significant advances have been made in the treatment of pediatric
cancer. Encouragingly, the cancer death rate has dropped more dramatically
for children than in any other age group. However, these advances
often result in lengthy and intense treatment regimes.
While Time
For Life applauds this monumental progress, we also recognize the
serious complications of the disease and treatments, and are
well aware of the profound impact they have on the quality of life
of children as well as on their loved ones. Given the
range of outcomes and the need for services, Time For Life is dedicated
to helping children with cancer and their families gain access to
sound information and supportive programs that can help them through
their enormously difficult challenges. |
